I guess most of you know this guy, but I can't help smiling whenever I see him play his Dual or Quad guitars :)

LOL, I was just thinking about Jim Gillette this morning, and all the ads he used to run in Guitar magazines in the 80s
....and the parody Butch Walker did.

Stop reading my mind, you ass. I was describing Nitro to someone quite literally *as you were posting this*. In detail, mentioning Freight Train even.

He's actually quite an accomplished musician and knows his theory quite well. He's super cheesy and over the top, and he knows it and LOVES it.

Why was it that the best shredders were in the worst/weirdest bands?
I saw Yngwie about 10 years ago at a tiny little club outside of DC, and it was weirdest show I had ever seen.
Yngwie center stage with all the spotlights, and the singer was in the dark, stage right. It's almost like porn. I wanted to forward through all the silly song, to hear the solos and crazy fills.

I have no idea, perhaps it's because they just want to showcase their skill?
That said, my boss is actually a rather good guitar player, but he won't play an eletric guitar at ALL in public.. He has acoustic guitars worth more than some people would pay for a car, and he plays by ear.. (and before anyone asks, nope, he NEVER blink).

Paul Gilbert will always be my favorite shredder, mostly because of his self-deprecating sense of humor and geeky tendencies. He also rips.

Paul is quite awesome, I guess we all love shredding, and everyone has a favourite :)
